Fake what? We all know the stories behind artists and bands, faking nearly everything like their voice, life, gender and many more.
Milli Vanilly, my absolute favourite „fake band“, has been stopped by accident when all of a sudden their playback machine broke down. Their career ended quicker than pushing a play button.
But these were the innocent times. We are now in the age of body implants and autotune. Faking a brilliant voice is nothing abnoxious anymore. Everybody is doing it and nobody cares. Faking talent is now becoming a major part of business (like implants are becoming a part of the human body). Today, where there are no solid paths to follow, fake becomes one piece of the cake.
Because today a band has to be creative about all aspects of their career. The need of self-management and self-organization of all business aspects has now become a solid barrier for newcomer bands. Party time is over. It’s replaced by healthy food business lunch and authentic communication with the fans.
The band Timid Tiger is working their arses off. For the last four years they have been moving mountains to release their second studio album.
Their first album sold pretty well, but the success was locked into an insolvency of their former label Lado. Thus they had to find new ways to overcome barriers of unclear licences and perspectives.
In the end the last four years of redefining the band have turned out to be helpful in terms of growing up and yes, becoming even sexier as well (the blow you away on stage)!
Timid Tiger’s second album is a very good mixture of several genres, with a clear statement to make pop music at its best.
„Today the workload of a band is the same as for a start-up company entering the market.“ Stated Evgeni Kouris, keayboarder and one of the strategic heads behind the band.
Mikelli Mikalko, the „mastermind“ behind Timid Tiger is the playful approach of the band to the business side of modern artist life. First you have to be take your business seriously and act highly professional, second you have to be international.
This is where Mikelli Mikalko comes into the game. He made this meaningful statement in the press flyer accompanying the album release:
„ … I remember it like it was yesterday. I had an appointment in a small, scurffy bar down by the harbour in my hometown Madras. Keshav (Minalli) was sitting at the piano passionately singing old French chansons.
This irresistible mixture of Prince, Belmondo and Maradonna …. in all modesty, I’ve always had a feeling for up-and-coming talents.
The total vision was with me, Timid Tiger was born, at least in my head and so I set off to find the right protagonists for this unusual band project. I traveled to Nizhny Novgorod (Russia) there I found the synth-virtuoso Evgeni Kouris (Shock). Cntacted the beat forger Steffen Wilmking (Steddy) in Philadelphia (USA). In Amsterdam (Netherlands) I discovered outstanding bass player Christopher Martin (Molto) and in Stockholm (Sweden) I picked up guitar hero/singer Christian Voss (Maduggi) from the street.
My plan worked out as planned and all five got along brilliantly. I fexed them up with a decent studio and wrote them some custom-made songs … and that’s basically how it all got started.
